Climbing training for beginners
The step from indoor climbing to rock climbing can be especially challenging for children. All of a sudden there are no coloured holds that show the way! Clipping into anchors can differ and the distance between hooks is not standardized. This course teaches you the basics for rock climbing. There are 3 different climbing gardens available in Weißbach near the valley or on the Waidringer Steinplatte.
- Tope and safety techniques
- Top rope and easy lead routes
- Learn the correct way to clip into bolted anchors

Meeting point: 9:30 at the Kesselfall cash desk in Kaprun
Duration: approx. 4h*
€ 70,- for adults | € 60,- for children
Climbing in the via ferrate arena Höhenburg with its diverse via ferrata and sport climbing options for children and adults is definitely one of the holiday highlights of the region.
Three via ferratas of varying levels of difficulty are bolted into the rock of the Höhenburg, a mountain steeped in history. For example, the well maintained iron ladder of the former alpine school has been integrated into the „Limberg-Zwerg“ via ferrata route. In this otherwise easy route there is a tricky feature called the "Zwergenleiter" (dwarfs ladder) difficulty level C, just waiting to be overcome!
We can of course also climb the Mobo 107 via ferrata over the Mooserboden dam. An absolute highlight!
Video Mobo 107
All 3 tours end at the summit of the Höhenburg, which rises up majestically between the 'Drossen' and 'Moosersperre' reservoirs. Don't forget to pack your camera, these high alpine via ferratas with the reservoirs in the background are a unique setting for sports people and those seeking relaxation. The walk back down to the dam wall is via the easy Höhenburg-trail.

Hochkönig Tour
€ 105,- normal trail up to the Hochkönig, min. 5 persons
€ 160,- Hochkönig via the Teufelslöcher, 3 persons
suitable from 15 years old
Stable weather is necessary for this tour. We set off at 6 am from the Arthurhaus in Mühlbach. This hike is not to be underestimated! It is a strenuous 9 kilometre, 1600 metres in height ascent and the same descent. Normal walking time is approx. 5-6h to the Matrashaus and approx. 3,5-4h back down to the Arthurhaus. Up to the Torsäule is relatively easy. Then the steep climb via the "Kniebeisser" (knee killer) to the plateau. Many sections through scree and sharp rock put your concentration to the test. Hiking poles help on the descent and through snow. You need to take enough water and of course food. At the summit the Matrashaus mountain hut restaurant is open. A rain jacket, hat, gloves, sunglasses are a must.
The tour takes place in safe conditions only. The Friday is reserved as an alternative, or for the descent should you choose to stay overnight in the Matrashaus. You may wish to choose the more challenging route via the 'Teufelslöcher' up to the Matrashaus at the summit of our highest mountain.

Hike to the Schönfeldspitze 2.655m
Meeting point: 6:00 am at the Sandten car park in Maria Alm
Total walking time: approx. 8 to 10h*
€ 120,-/person (min. 4 persons)
The Schönfeldspitze is the most striking peak in Steinernen Meer. It is well known for its artfully carved summit cross. The climb requires solid hiking, no fear of heights and a good level of fitness. The Riemannhaus is a welcome place to stop on the way to the summit as well as on the way down again. We take the normal trail from Riemannhaus to the summit and via the Wurmkopf back to the hut. At the difficult sections the mountain guide can secure you with a rope. Hiking poles help on the descent and through snow. Take enough water and food. A rain jacket, hat, gloves, and sunglasses are a must. The tour takes place in good weather conditions only.
